Yinglu Zhang
Graduate Student

I grew up in China and received my B.Sc from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. I majored in Biochemistry and minored in Economics. During my school years, I had the honor to work in Dr. Kalle Gehring's lab to study the functions and mechanisms of bacterial effector proteins using X-ray crystallography and NMR. From this experience, I found my passion about structural biology, and I really hope to learn more about this field.

I like doing volunteering work. During my undergraduate studies, I became a volunteer of the First-year Office in McGill to organize events for freshmen. Also, I join a charity club called ‘Dream Corps' to help raise the awareness of reading and education for children among the rural areas of China.

I love music, books, sports and hanging out with friends. I am really excited about going to Columbia to meet new people and to explore NYC.
