Editorial Internship with the Life Sciences Textbook Division at W. W. Norton & Co.: The life sciences department at W. W. Norton & Co., a leading publisher of college-level textbooks, is looking for a junior or senior undergraduate student studying science with an interest in educational publishing. The student selected will use prior knowledge of biology, microbiology, evolution, and/or biochemistry to analyze trends in undergraduate science textbooks. The intern will learn directly about the editorial and marketing sides of publishing and will be given the opportunity to speak with other departments to gain an understanding of the entire publishing process. Ideal candidates will be organized, detail-oriented, independent workers with strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability to apply factual knowledge to analysis of varied situations.
All Norton interns receive a stipend of $10 per day. Hours are flexible, but most interns work 10-15 hours per week over 2 or 3 days. Juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred. If interested, please send cover letter and résumé as an email attachment to

Seeking part-time technical help in a chemoprevention laboratory at Columba University Medical Center: Work will involve cytotoxicity, enzyme assays, molecular assays of carcinogenesis (Western blot, siRNA), analysis of gene expression data. BA degree and experience in tissue culture preferred.
