Course Description Prerequisites: one year of calculus based physics. This class will cover the physics and observations of extrasolar planets at a quantitative level, including: detection methods, theories of planet formation and migration, orbital dynamics, rocky vs. gaseous planets, extrasolar planet atmospheres, and habitability, including possibly observable life signatures and some aspects of astrobiology. We will also cover several recent experimental results.
