Course Description Prerequisites: CSEE W3827 or equivalent. Focuses on advanced topics in modern computer architecture, illustrated by recent case studies. Fundamentals of quantitative analysis. Pipelined, out-of-order, and speculative execution. Superscalar, VLIW and vector processors. Embedded processors. Memory hierarchy design. Multiprocessors and thread-level parallelism. Synchronization and cache coherence protocols. Interconnection networks.
