Course Description Prerequisites: (EAEE E3112) and (CIEN E4241) or instructors permission. A detailed survey of numerical methods used in geomechanics, emphasizing the Finite Element Method (FEM). Review of the behavior of geological materials. Water and heat flow problems. FEM techniques for solving nonlinear problems, and simulating incremental excavation and loading on the surface and underground.
