Course Description After Europeans arrived in the Americas, cultural clashing and blending created new worlds on both sides of the Atlantic. Focusing on Mexico and elsewhere, we examine indigenous American and European perspectives on these encounters. We also explore responses in contemporary art and literature, considering especially race, gender, and identity, from Hernán Cortés to Gloria Anzaldúa.
