Course Description | We introduce various queueing models, including queueing networks, some classic and some new, with applications to a variety of industries such as telecommunications, computer science, inventory systems, health care, and insurance risk, among others. The basic mathematical tools for analyzing the models and solving for quantities of interest involve stochastic processes such as Markov chains, but also other tools from operations research such as optimization and stochastic simulation. This course is aimed at MS and undergraduate students who have already had a basic course in stochastic modeling such as IEOR 3106/4106. |
