Course Description Prerequisites: (MECE E3301) and (MECE E3311) and (MECE E4304) or MECE E3301x Thermodynamics, and MECE E3311y Heat Transfer; MECE E4304x Turbomachinery (or instructor approval). Principles of propulsion. Thermodynamic cycles of air breathing propulsion systems including ramjet, scramjet, turbojet, and turbofan engine and rocket propulsion system concepts. Turbine engine and rocket performance characteristics. Component and cycle analysis of jet engines and turbomachinery. Advanced propulsion systems.
