Course Description Worries and debates about the family are in the news daily.   But how in fact is "the family" changing?  And why?  This course will study the family from a sociological perspective with primary emphasis on continuity and change and variation across different historical eras.  We’ll examine how the diversity of family life and constellations of intimacy and care are shaped by gender roles and expectations, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and sexuality.
