Fall 1998 Telephone Registration Instructions

HOW
1. Consult your letter from the University Registrar listing your telephone registration appointments or, starting July 6th, to hear your appointment times call 854-4488
  • If you will be a fourth-termer, you have ONE appointment on July 23rd to register for your FIVE courses.
  • If you will be a third-termer, you have TWO appointments on July 24th. In the first, you are able to register for only TWO courses. In the second, you are able to register for the remaining THREE courses of your FIVE courses.
  • If you will be a second-termer, you have ONE appointment on July 27th to register for your ONE elective. Your second-term core courses are assigned to you automatically. Your core-course schedule will be placed in your mailfolder or mailed to you by July 15th.
2. To find out if you are cleared to register call 854-6464
    If there is a hold, call the appropriate office (Bursar 854-4206, Health Services 854-7210) and clear the hold. You will not be able to register if you have any holds.

Before you call, be sure you have your

  • PIN (personal identification number); if you do not have it call 854-4330
  • CUID (Columbia University Identification) number
  • the five-digit call numbers of all the courses you wish to register for

REMEMBER: : The telephone registration system operates by "appointments" at a given time, on a given day. You can call to register ONLY during your appointed time, BUT you should call at your earliest appointed time to have the best chance of getting the courses you want. Also, remember that the registration system is "live-on-line." What you select, you get. Choose early and choose wisely.
