Art & Neuroscience Fellowship Opportunities
at the Italian Academy
For details about neuroscience events at the Academy, please go to the Art & Neuroscience Project page; see here below for details about ongoing study through Fellowships at the Academy.
Each year, the Academy sponsors a Fellowship in Art & Neuroscience, and we are proud to have become known as the leading academic institution for the advanced study of this rich interdisciplinary field.
The Art & Neuroscience Project at the Italian Academy is dedicated to the understanding of the possibilities offered by the cognitive neuroses, broadly conceived, for the understanding of the arts and letters. The aim of the project is to establish a firm basis for interdisciplinary work in this area. Fellows are given every opportunity to organize joint projects and whatever seminars and conferences may be necessary to further development of the relations between the neurosciences and the arts. Applications from neuroscientists, cognitive psychologists, and scholars of the humanities with an interest in the neurosciences or neurophilosophy are encouraged, as well as from other relevant fields.
The following scholars in the field have been in residence at the Academy:
in 2007-8, Anna Ipata (working on the neurophysiology of vision and emotion) and Rosalia Crupi (the Bodini Research Fellow, studying whether antidepressant effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation are mediated by stem cells);
in 2006-7, Luigi Mazzone (the Bodini Research Fellow, studying the influence of risperidone on emotional stimuli processing in a sample of individuals with autism), Domenica Crupi (working on motor responses and imitation), and Daniela Puzzo (working on Alzheimer's disease).
