Welcome to the Cardiac Biomechanics Group at Columbia University

The Cardiac Biomechanics Group investigates cardiac function in both health and disease with special attention to the role of mechanics.

With principal investigators in the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Internal Medicine, and Surgery, we pursue projects of immediate clinical relevance as well as projects focused on the basic biology and physiology of the heart. Any project may require work at several levels of tissue organization, from investigations on single cells to clinical studies.

The descriptions of current research on the Projects page best illustrate the wide array of questions, methods, and collaborations available to students and fellows working with our group.
