Matt 25:31-26:2
Title: The Lord Who Seperates
Theme: The Lord who judges the world also saves the
world.
Goal: After this study, participants should see the
dual attributes of God -- Justice and Mercy.
Study Plan:
I. Warmup Question (15 mins):
Introduce yourself, and please tell us a conflict of
yours.
II. Preparation (10 mins)
1. Review of the Olive Discourse (Richard)
2. Bible Reading (Brian in Roles)
3. Bible Silent Reading (Brian)
4. Opening Prayer (Brian)
III. Developing the Text:
1. What 3 images did Jesus describe himself as in
25:31-34?
What does these images indicate about Jesus?
How about the judgement?
What method does Jesus use as the judgement?
Does this method ring a bell on the Lord's
creation?
What does this connection indicate to us about
Jesus?
(15 mins)
2. What is the goal of the seperation?
Were those 6 actions significant?
When did the sheep and goat start to speak?
(Prior to judgement, after judgement?)
Did what they say affect the judgement?
Did the sheep remember their actions?
How about the goats?
How could a God on his royal throne (25:31) consent
to the least of his brethren (25:40,45)?
In this regard, do you consider that God has
justice?
(15 mins)
3. What did the Lord announce to the disciples at the
end of the Olive Discourse?
How does this announcement connect to the Discourse
itself?
Did the disciples realize how historic a moment it
was?
(15 mins)
4. Referring to the English translation, do you think
it is the action that leads to their eternal
belongings or their attitudes per sake?
What are the differences and similarities in the
attitudes between the sheep and the goats toward
receiving their judgement?
What changes in your attitude toward life would
you like to adjust, now that you know that the Lord
who judges is also the Lord who saves?
(15 mins)
IV. Conclusion (5 mins)
Concluding Prayer (Brian)
V. Evaluation
