Jonathan Trujillo
Hello, my name is Jonathan Trujillo and I am the presidential candidate for Columbia University Activists. I was born in Los Angeles, California, but I grew up around the Bay Area. For most of my life I attended one school, which was a very cultural school in that seventy-five percent of the students came from Hispanic background. I moved right before my freshman year of high school so I already know what it is like to be in a new school, not knowing anyone. In high school I played flute and percussion and I was the percussion leader as well as a Band Council member. I was also Co-President for REAL@CVHS, publicist for CSF, and Area 9 Representative for Interact 5160 District Council. I have had a diverse array of leadership experience which will allow me to stay open-minded if voted into office. My focus as president will be to inform the first-years of everything and anything that is going on. It is a very ambitious goal, I know, but it is one that I am very passionate about, and I hope that you will agree and vote CUA in to office.

Diane Jeane-Mary
My name is Diane A. Jean-Mary. I am a first year in Columbia College and intend on being a film and english double major. In the past, I have held numerous leadership positions. I was President of National Honor Society, President and Co-Founder of Film Club, Vice President of Art Club, and Treasurer of Key Club. I held each of these positions from September 2007 - June 2009. My interests include public speaking, filmmaking, and playing music. I play the violin, piano, and guitar. I am involved in community service (park clean-ups, hospital visits, walks, etc...) In the future, I would like to become someone of importance in the film industry. Though directing is what I would most like to do, I would also enjoy the fields of editing, producing, and sound mixing as well.

Yamira Bell
Yamira Bell is a pre-med freshman from the small town of Easton, Pennsylvania. Her roots are in Nigeria, West Africa and Dothan Alabama. Her greatest accomplishment, as of now, was receiving acceptance into Columbia and being able to represent the school as a varsity athlete on the track team; which is testimony to her dedication to the institute. She is driven by her Christian faith and attributes all her accomplishments to God’s hand in her life. She is really passionate about community and its success. This attribute is made evident through the many volunteer roles that she has had in the past. She consistently volunteered every summer in the Easton Area Hospital, accumulating over one hundred hours of community service. She also served at her church as a Sunday school teacher and was involved in various community service activities throughout her academic career in high school. Her dedication to community is also evident in the career path she has chosen; in studying medicine she hopes to be able to help those who cannot afford proper health treatment in under privilege communities; as well as to encourage more minorities to get involved in medicine. It is also evident in the leadership roles she has chosen for herself in the past as a proctor and a peer leader. Both these roles involved intimate relational contact with students older and even younger than her and required her to serve them and aid them in moving toward success. She hopes to continue these acts of service at Columbia and help the school to move toward a better tomorrow.

Grecia Barboza
Grecia Barboza is a freshman in the college. She has been an active participant in leadership and student council since her years in middle school. Although she is still unsure about her major, she is sure that she wants to do something that involves taking a leadership role. Grecia embraces her Hispanic roots by participating in various clubs and activities that involve her heritage at Columbia University. She hopes to rush and join a sorority in the spring in order to further involve herself with the school. In high school, Grecia participated in various community service activities like Big Brothers Big Sisters, and was an active student in activities such as Mock Trial, Leadership, and Track and Field. She loves music, enjoys playing her guitar, and loves attending concerts. As a first generation college student, Grecia hopes to take advantage of the diversity in New York City and the new adventure that Columbia University brings.
