Introducing Columbia 311
Dear Engaged Columbia College,
In our first large scale initiative of the year, CCSC is launching Columbia 311. Columbia 311 is your personalized, comprehensive connection to Columbia University. Modeled after and similar to NYC's 311 service, every student, part of student group or not, can feel comfortable contributing their ideas to our campus and engaging the council. Want your favorite area restaurant to accept Flex? Columbia 311. Need a fellowship or internship for the summer? Columbia 311. Wondering how to check if campus printers are functioning? Columbia 311. Disappointed they took away the Chicken Club at 212 or Spicy Chicken strips at JJ's? Columbia 311. An idea or an issue that once seemed completely out of your hands will be in the hands of a student council that can get things done.
Within the next week, you will receive an email from member of CCSC. They will lay out the program for you and tell you how to get in touch with them. This person will be your pathway to Columbia's daunting structure.
All Columbia College students should look forward to forming semi-meaningful bonds with their assigned member of our Student Council. These bonds should translate into productive, tangible benefits for students on our campus. However - and I've already received three inquiries to this effect - Columbia 311 will not be used as a dating service or to find you a party on a weekend night.
We look forward to serving you through Columbia 311, to seeing you at the Homecoming Carnival and the Homecoming Game vs. Princeton (but not for several days on end at Butler Library).
And Happy Rosh Hashanah, Ramadan, Queer Awareness & Latino Heritage Month!
Your Starting Varsity Lineup,
George, Adil, Laura, Ian & Robyn
