She studied Old and Middle Iranian languages at the University of Tehran (MA) and Religious Anthropology and History of Religion at the Sorbonne University (DEA and PhD). She held post-doctoral research fellowships at Harvard and Yale Universities. Her research and writing are focused on ancient Iranian religion, and she is currently preparing an edition (text, translation and commentary) of the Pahlavi Videvdad, a critical text for the understanding of purification laws in ancient Iran (circa 500 B.C.E).
