Professor Cornish Discusses Chemistry at Local Bistro
On Monday, January 8, Professor Virginia Cornish fielded questions about her research in biochemistry from attendees at PicNic Market and Café, a local French restaurant on Broadway near 102nd Street. The event was part of Cafe Science, a monthly series of informal talks by Columbia University science professors, who visit PicNic to describe their work and answer questions from a consistently standing-room-only crowd. The event last week was covered in the City Section of the New York Times (see http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/14/nyregion/thecity/14cafe.html?_r=1&oref=slogin ) At a Cafe Science event on December 11, Professor Colin Nuckolls discussed his research work in nanotechnology. More information on Professors Cornish and Nuckolls is available on their web pages at: http://www.columbia.edu/cu/chemistry/fac-bios/cornish/faculty.html and http://www.columbia.edu/cu/chemistry/fac-bios/nuckolls/faculty.html.
