Congratulations to Professor Virginia Cornish on receiving two prestigious awards for her outstanding research program on new approaches for the modification of biomolecules in living cells.
On December 1, the Protein Society announced that Professor Cornish was awarded the Irving Sigal Young Investigator Award, which recognizes “a significant contribution to the study of proteins by a scientist who is in the early stages of an independent career.” Earlier, it was announced here that Professor Cornish received the 2009 Pfizer Award in Enzyme Chemistry "for outstanding work in enzyme chemistry where the presence of enzyme action is unequivocally demonstrated."
More information about Professor Cornish's research can be found on the Cornish Group Website. Information about the Protein Society can be found at http://www.proteinsociety.org/ and information about the ACS Division of Biological Chemistry can be found at: http://www.biochemdivision.org/
