Professor Samuel Danishefsky to Receive 2006 BMS Award
Professor Samuel Danishefsky will receive the 2006 Bristol-Myers Squibb Distinguished Achievement Award in Organic Synthesis at the 2006 BMS Chemistry Awards Symposium in Wallingford, May 11-12, 2006.
The Bristol-Myers Squibb Distinguished Achievement Award in Organic Synthesis recognizes an established leader in the field of organic synthesis. Nominees for the award must be at the rank of Full Professor, lead an active research group at the time of nomination, and have made a seminal contribution to the field of organic synthesis within the five years prior to nomination. The Award Selection Committee is composed of the six current recipients of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Unrestricted Grants in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. Nominations for the award are provided by the past and current recipients of the Unrestricted Grants. This award, which includes a cash prize, is part of a larger funding program designed to provide significant support for academic research in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, which we consider to be the primary training ground for the chemists who play a pivotal role in the discovery and development of new pharmaceutical agents.
