Congratulations
to Jason Pfleuger (above, left) and Markrete Krikorian
(above, right), who have been selected as winners of the Thomas J. Katz
Prize and the Richard Bersohn Prize, respectively. The
Katz and Bersohn awards were established in 2009 to recognize students of
Columbia College, General Studies, or SEAS, who are majoring in the
chemical sciences and who have demonstrated outstanding achievement as a scholar
and as a researcher. The Katz prize typically goes to
a student of organic chemistry or a related field and the Bersohn
prize to a student of physical chemistry or a related field. Jason
has been working in the research group of Professor Scott Snyder
and Markrete in the group of Professor Colin Nuckolls.
Jason and Markrete will be formally recognized as recipients of their awards at the annual Academic Awards and Prizes Ceremony and Reception, which will be held on May 17. This event brings together students who have distinguished themselves with their faculty, friends, and families.
