The department of chemistry is pleased to
announce the appointment of Jonathan Owen as Assistant Professor, effective
July 1. Professor Owen joins the faculty following his position as
postdoctoral fellow in the research group of Professor Paul Alivisatos at UC
Berkeley. He received his doctorate at California Institute of
Technology under the direction of Professor John Bercaw.
Professor Owen's research focuses on understanding the relationship between
nanocrystal structure and electronic properties and on investigating
semiconductor films and catalysts that interconvert the energy in sunlight,
electricity, and chemicals -- areas of research with relevance to the
development of new renewable energy technologies. More information about
