"New Methods and Strategies for the Synthesis of Polycyclic Natural
Products"
Presented by Sarah Reisman, Caltech
The
overarching goal of the Reisman laboratory is to discover, develop, and
study new chemical reactions within the context of natural product total
synthesis. To this end, our laboratory has several ongoing research
programs targeting the total synthesis of biologically active alkaloid
and diterpenoid natural products, as well as projects in the area of
asymmetric catalysis. This seminar will describe our recent progress in
these endeavors, including the development and application of new
catalytic enantioselective methods to prepare pyrroloindolines, as well
as studies in the synthesis of norcaradienes through arene
cyclopropanation reactions.
