CU Chemistry Graduate Student Receives 2011 BMS Award

Congratulations to chemistry graduate student Dan Treitler, who is one of just five students nationwide to receive a 2011-2012 Bristol-Myers Squibb Graduate Fellowship in Synthetic Organic Chemistry.   A student in the laboratory of Professor Scott Snyder, Dan will begin his fifth year of graduate work in the fall.  The chair of the chemistry department in 2008-2011, Professor Colin Nuckolls, submitted Dan's name to the award committee.

Brisol-Myers Squibb awardees receive a grant of $35K of which $30K is for their continued education and research.  $5K will be disbursed by Professor Snyder to cover the cost of equipment and supplies.  Fellows were chosen based on their demonstrated academic and research achievements and potential for significant future accomplishments.   Dan will be invited to the Bristol-Myers research site in Lawrenceville, New Jersey next Spring for the company's awards symposium.

You can learn more about the work of Professor Snyder's research group on their group website.
