Postdoctoral Openings

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate in theoretical and computational statistical mechanics, to work with David Reichman at Columbia in close collaboration with Grzegorz Szamel and Patrick Charbonneau under the aegis of the "Simons Collaboration on Cracking the Glass Problem".

The overall project focuses on obtaining a first-principle statistical mechanics description of amorphous solids, using theory and computer simulations. The specific goal for this position is to obtain a microscopic understanding of the dynamics of supercooled liquids, notably through expanding tools from liquid state theory, and to contrast the results with predictions of mean-field theory.

The postdoc is expected to actively collaborate with the three PIs as well as with other investigators in the collaboration. Visits to participating research groups are thus expected. The postdoc is also expected to participate in scientific events and discussions of the Simons collaboration.

Candidates should have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics or a related field, with experience in the statistical mechanics of liquids and computer programming. The preferred start date would be between September 2018 and March 2019.

Applications must be made by sending a letter of presentation and a detailed CV, and by arranging for at least two letters of reference to be sent to: drr2103@columbia.edu
