Lim Teck Ghee

 

Lim Teck Ghee is presently a Senior Social Specialist with the Environment and Social Development Sector Unit of the World Bank. Previously, he worked as the Regional Advisor on poverty alleviation and social integration for the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific since 1994. This position included extensive work in Southeast and Central Asia with governments, donors and civil society. In the 1970’s and 80’s, Dr. Lim was a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Policy Research and the Institute of Advanced Studies in Malaysia (his home country). He is also a pioneer of the NGO movement in Asia, and held leadership positions in two of Malaysia’s most highly regarded NGO’s: the Consumers’ Association of Penang, and Friends of the Earth Malaysia.

Dr. Lim’s professional work focuses on a wide range of social development issues including participation, institutional frameworks for community-based development, land tenure questions and various aspects of rural development, urban development, and development of civil society.
