Ngo Van Doanh
Ngo Van Doanh was educated at Voronet University in the former Soviet Union from 1967 until 1973, when he returned to Vietnam to work at the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies at the National Center for Social Sciences and Humanities; he continues to work there today. From 1981 to 1984, Doanh worked for his Ph.D. degree at Institute for Arts Studies in Moscow, and in 1994, he became Editor-in-Chief of Southeast Asian Studies at the Institute. In 1999, Doanh was named Deputy Director of the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies.
Research publications include Culture of Champa (Hanoi, 1994), Towers of Champa (Hanoi, 1995, rep. 1998), Grave—Abandonment Festival of Central Highlands (Hanoi, 1997), Rija Nugar Festival of Cham People (Hanoi, 1999), and Indonesia—Brief History (Hanoi, 1997). Doanh is fluent in English and Russian, and also works as a translator and a journalist.
