Ralph Samuelson

Ralph Samuelson is the director of the Asian Cultural Council, a foundation supporting cultural exchange in the arts between the United States and the countries of Asia. Before joining the ACC in 1976, Samuelson worked with the Smithsonian Institution’s Festival of American Folklife, taught ethnomusicology at Eastern Connecticut State College, and was a public school music teacher. He is a graduate of Cornell University and has an M.A. in musicology from Wesleyan University. In addition to his career in the cultural exchange field, Mr. Samuelson is an active performer of the Japanese flute, shakuhachi.
