Asian Youth
Program (AYP)

The Asian Youth Program is a Community Impact affiliated initiative that connects caring Columbia students with Asian youth (ages 6-12) who have been affected by domestic violence. By individually matching each child with a volunteer mentor, AYP aims to provide the children with a positive role model who can offer companionship and support. Just as importantly, the Asian Youth Program also strives to create a friendly atmosphere that fosters fun and creativity. Over the course of the year, mentors are able to build strong relationships with their mentees through a wide variety of individual and group activities spread throughout New York City. From playing board games, to tutoring, to ice skating in the park, volunteers are able to stimulate the social and academic development of a child simply by taking the time to care. Volunteers from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to participate!
