BUYING BOOKS
Books can be purchased at:
Columbia University Bookstore
2922 Broadway (Inside Lerner Hall, between 115th & 114th Streets).
New York, NY 10027
Phone 212-854-4132
The price for a set of four books is approximately $65. Textbooks
used in Community Impact Programs can be found towards the back of
the bookstore in the COMI (Community Imapct) textbook section. Please
make sure that you purchase the right books for your level. The ESL
textbooks will be divided by class levels (sections) 1,2,3, and 4.
Students who can prove purchase of a complete set of books, in the
form of a store receipt, maintain good attendance, and remain in class
through the eighth week of the course, will be eligible for a $10
refund voucher towards the cost of their books.
Columbia University Bookstore will also buy back textbooks from
students at a discounted price. The price that you will get for your
used book fluctuates and depends on the national selling rate for that
day. The bookstore will only buy back books in good condition. For more
information please refer to the Columbia University Bookstore policy on
buying used textbooks.
VOLUNTEERING FOR BOOKS
Some students may be eligible to offset or cover the cost of their books
through volunteer work within one of Community Impact’s twenty-seven programs.
If eligible, students may volunteer an hour for each book they need. Students
who are interested in volunteering for their books should speak with an ESL
Program Specialist at the beginning of the semester.
