GED/ABE
Pre-GED Textbooks
Students use five different textbooks in the English Pre-GED Program, approximately one for each subject taught. These books are as follows: Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Language Arts: Reading, and Language Arts: Writing. The books are part of Steck-Vaughn’s 2003 Pre-GED textbook series.

Students use six different textbooks in the English GED Program, approximately one for each subject taught. These books are as follows: Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Language Arts: Reading, Language Arts: Writing, and Essay. The books are part of Steck-Vaughn’s 2002 GED textbook series.

When sold separately the GED and pre-GED books are sold for $10,
a considerable markdown from the retail price. Students who purchase
a complete set of books (pre-GED and GED only) will receive one book
free. The price for a set of pre-GED books, therefore, is $40. The price for a set of GED books is $50. The price of the Spanish GED textbooks is $50.
VOLUNTEERING FOR BOOKS
Some students may be eligible to offset or cover the cost of their
books through volunteer work within one of Community Impact’s twenty-seven
programs. If eligible, students may volunteer an hour for each book they
need. Students who are interested in volunteering for their books should
speak with a GED Program Specialist at the beginning of the semester to
find out if they meet the requirements of this program.
