Coordinator Information

Included in this section is some the information taken from the Student Coordinator Guide. Suggestions on other ways to use this space are welcome!

Coordinator Responsibilities and Procedures

  • Recruit New Volunteers
    • Activities/Clubs Day
    • Community Impact’s Open House each semester
    • A Group Orientation Session at the beginning of each semester
      Be sure to hand out the CI Volunteer Guide to each volunteer (generally printed in the Fall Semester). Invite your Student Executive and/or Staff Advisor to talk with your group briefly about CI
    • Columbia Community Outreach (CCO events)
  • Attend monthly Meetings (at least 1 Coordinator per group)
    • to meet other CI Group Coordinators
    • to develop CI policies
    • to discuss volunteer concerns
    • to exchange information concerning CI and its groups
    • to plan Special Events
  • Meet with
    • Staff and Student Executive Advisors assigned to your group every 2-3 weeks. Coordinators must respond promptly to e-mail or phone requests regarding programmatic or administrative issues.
    • check-in with volunteers monthly to reflect on how the program is going. Meetings can be formal or informal (i.e. pizza at Famiglia's). Discuss program successes as well as things to work on. Be sure to include everyone in the discussion and follow-up on issues so volunteers feel that their concerns are taken seriously.
  • Perform administrative tasks
    • have all volunteers complete Volunteer Registration Cards
    • submit volunteer lists to Student Executive as soon as complete
    • submit receipts from reimbursements and check advances in a timely manner
    • distribute and collect evaluation forms from coordinators, program volunteers and participants at the end of the year
    • check your CI mailbox at least once per week
    • update program binder in CI office
    • submit budget proposals
  • Participate in CI Special Events
    • attend mandatory Community Impact coordinator retreats (Fall and Spring semesters)
    • attend workshops of interest to your program
    • volunteer in other CI group’s special events
    • assist periodically with other Community Impact activities such as site visits from funders, University administrators and prospective Board members, and the CI Annual Benefit Auction.
