Description:
Columbia University Kendo Club seeks to promote the sport of Kendo to anyone interested in learning and also to improve the skills of any enthusiastic kendoka. Kendo is a Japanese martial art that uses a shinai or practice "sword" to strike the opponent at certain specified areas, which are protected by the bogu or armor. It has its roots with the Samurai and has been refined and developed over centuries to take its current form. Currently, we have as our instructor, Noboru Kataoka sensei, who is one of the best instructors in U.S.A. He is ranked 7th-dan and has won first place in many international competitions before, which you can google for. If you have any questions in joining our club, you may email the current President, Lennon Lee, at lyl2105 [at] columbia.edu
