Description:

The Columbia Women's Squash Team will begin its third season as an official Club Team this Fall '08. The team is expected to become varsity in 2011. This season will be particularly exciting as we will begin practicing on new courts in the Street Squash facility and will have our first ever home matches. The women's squash team consisted of about 14 girls at all different levels in our last season, ranging from beginners to students that have played for many years. We look forward to welcoming our returning players and also having new members join us this season. Our first scheduled event is the Ivy Scrimmage in early November, followed by matches with Middlebury, Colgate, Haverford College, and Wesleyan and Vassar Round Robins. This season the team will be led by tri-captains Olivia Tandon, Zahrah Taufique, and Yasmine Koukaz.

Other Information:

Over its 3-year history, the Women's Squash Club has continued to improve each year. The first year the club was recognized, we did not compete in any official matches. The second year, however, we competed in several sanctioned matches and the Collegiate Nationals at the end of the season, where we finished 31 out of 32. Last season, we improved on this success with a 5-6 season and a #27 ranking after Nationals. With returning players working hard to improve and new talent already eager to join the team in the fall, we expect to continue to rise through the rankings in the next season.
