In the weeks following the first occupation, there was a general strike in which regular classes were to be boycotted and students were not supposed to go into the buildings. In any case, regular classes were canceled for the rest of the term. Friendly faculty (and others, such as peace activists and union organizers) gave "Liberation classes" on the lawns in front of the classroom buildings, usually discussing issues that were relevant to the strike.
