Click the Enlarge button to see the key layout and labels, including the orange-colored word processing labels on the fronts of the keys. I believe DEC was the first to adopt this layout, which first appeared on its VT220 terminal and became pretty much standard (although with different key assignments, notably Ctrl and Caps Lock) throughout the industry. Prior to that keyboards were much smaller, more like typewriter keyboards.
