Eric Hankam in his office at IBM Watson Laboratory at Columbia University, 612 West 116th Street, New York City, early 1950s, with IBM's ubiquitous THINK sign. Note the wainscotting (covered with paint in typical NYC fashion). Other accoutrements of the 1950s office include big wooden desk, typewriter (under cover), space heaters, and is that a piano on the right? But no computers -- they were in the machine room. The office was for sitting and thinking. Photo from the collection of Eric Hankam.
