The 2012 CGCC Case Competition will be held on August 17, 2012 at Columbia University. Team registration is is now open and will close at midnight on July 15, 2012. Accepted teams will be notified by July 18, 2012.

The competition is open to all non-MBA graduate students. Participants will be given a case to assess and will be expected to present a comprehensive analysis and solution. All presenters will be given feedback and the best initial presentations will be selected for a second round from which a winner will be chosen. All participants are invited to a networking session in the evening.

Judges will include representatives from a range of management consulting companies.

A CASH PRIZE will be awarded to the winning team.

EVENT SCHEDULE (8:30 AM – 7:00 PM):
8:30AM – Check-in/Breakfast
9:00AM – Keynote Speaker
9:30AM – Breakout
12:00PM – Lunch (delivered)
2:00PM – First Round Judging
4:00PM – Second Round Judging
5:30PM – Winners Announced/Closing Remarks
6:00PM – Networking Reception

  • Comprehension of key issues
  • Quality of solution
  • Feasibility of plan
  • Clarity and focus of presentation

 Competition Rules:

  • No outside help is allowed during the competition.
  • Final presentations must be submitted by 1:55pm by e-mail to columbiacasecomp@gmail.com. Any team without a presentation submitted by 1:55pm will be disqualified. If multiple copies are submitted, the last copy received by 1:55pm will be the one used for presenting.
  • Presentations will be 10 minutes long with 2 minutes allotted for questions. Presenters will be notified when they have 5, 3, 1, and 0 minutes remaining. Presentations not completed by 10 minutes will be stopped.
  • All team members are not required to speak during the presentation.
  • First round presentations are closed to other teams.  Only judges and outside observers will be allowed to watch first round presentations.
  • Teams will be given exactly one hour to revise presentations after first round feedback is received.
  • Due to time constraints, teams presenting in the final round will not be notified in advance. Please come prepared.
