The Conference will take place on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Columbia University's historic Morningside Heights campus in Manhattan, easily accessible by public transportation, private car or bus.
Sessions will cover all aspects of student publishing. Advisers are welcome to attend sessions with students; in addition, some sessions will be organized for advisers only. The program is rich and varied, with experienced advisers and journalists serving as session leaders. Session topics will include writing and editing; staff organization and motivation; design and layout; suggestions for special areas of coverage; and legal and ethical concerns for advisers and editors.
Award-winning publications will be on display for inspection.
Lunch is not included in the Conference registration fee. A list of restaurants in the area will be provided to delegates at the registration desk.
Payment of fees must accompany your registration before or at the Conference. No fees will be billed unless accompanied by an authorized school purchase order.
The program guide (the printed schedule of meetings) will be distributed at registration. The schedule will be available on the CSPA's web site two weeks prior to the conference.
The officers of the Columbia Scholastic Press Advisers Association (CSPAA) will consult with faculty advisers about specific concerns and problems regarding the publication of newspapers, magazines and yearbooks. Speakers from Teachers & Writers Collaborative, as well as advisers from award-winning magazines, will discuss how to put together an attractive and well-edited student magazine.
The Conference is an excellent opportunity to meet with other student editors and faculty advisers in the area to share common problems and discover new solutions.
Registration will take place in Roone Arledge Auditorium in the Alfred Lerner Center at Columbia University. The Alfred Lerner Center is located on 115th St. and Broadway in upper westside Manhattan. Classes will be held in classrooms in various academic buildings on campus.
Plan carefully and bring substitutes for absentee delegates. No refunds will be given after October 15th.
You do not have to be a CSPA member to attend our events.

prepared for pick-up when you arrive on campus.
If you cannot meet the
October 26th postmark deadline, consider faxing your completed registration
form to us in advance and bring full payment with you.
The price of admission is based on the number of delegates (advisers are included as delegates) attending as a group:
16 or more delegates = $36
5-15 delegates = $39
4 or fewer delegates = $42
All groups sending purchase orders with their registrations will be charged the $42 per person rate. (A purchase order is not payment; it is a promise to pay.) If full payment is received before your arrival on campus, CSPA will honor the sliding scale discounted rates based on your group size.
