Summer Journalism Workshop

Workshop participants to visit Times Square for lunch and a show as part of the 2008 Workshop experience

After four successful years, CSPA and Camp Broadway will join forces again to bring each Summer Journalism Workshop participant to the legendary "Crossroads of the World," New York’s famed Times Square, as part of the 2008 event.

Recognizing the need for arts-based reporting in both newspapers and yearbooks, CSPA now includes a lunch and theater outing for Workshop participants on Wednesday afternoon (June 25th), giving them the chance to hone their skills as arts journalism reporters and critics.

As part of the Workshop experience, all students will participate in a press conference with cast members from the Broadway show selected for this year.* This will be their chance to ask questions just like professional theater critics and reporters!

Participants will have lunch in one of Times Square’s exciting restaurants* while getting to know fellow participants, Workshop instructors and CSPA staff.

After the press conference and lunch, the entire Workshop group will attend the afternoon performance of a Broadway show.

During previous outings, students traveled via New York City’s subway system to attend press conferences and performances of 42nd Street, All Shook Up, Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods, and Urinetown while dining at world-famous Planet Hollywood and B.B King’s Blues Club & Grill. This is a unique and exclusive opportunity for CSPA Summer Journalism Workshop participants.
