CSSN List Rules
Welcome to the mailing list of the Columbia Student Solidarity Network.
For more information on CSSN, visit http://www.columbia.edu/cu/cssn/
Be aware that you may sign up for the digest form of this list that
compiles all messages from this list into a single message per day.
Subscribe by sending mail to majordomo@columbia.edu with 'subscribe
cssn-digest' in the BODY of the message. Similarly, for more mail, send a
message to the same address with 'cssn-chat' in the BODY of the message.
LIST RULES
If you break one of the following guides, you will receive an
authoritarian phone call asking you to pay more attention before you use
the list. If you break a guide a second time, your sending privileges will
be revoked.
There are hundreds of individuals on this mailing list, therefore:
- DO NOT use this list to respond to specific individuals. If you have
questions or disputes, respond to the person who sent the announcement;
this is not a discussion list. However, if you feel an announcement merits
discussion, CSSN has a discussion mailing list as well. To add
yourself, send an e-mail to majordomo@columbia.edu with "subscribe
cssn-chat" in the body of the message. You can then e-mail the larger list
to announce that you are beginning a discussion and urge others to add
themselves as well.
-
DO NOT use this list to work out details of your own group's schedules
and meeting times. Do this among yourselves and e-mail the final
announcement to the list.
-
DO NOT use the list to ask questions regarding logistics of events, or
to announce that you have missed a meeting due to miscommunication. Direct
those queries to the specific individuals involved.
-
But please *DO* use this list for announcements of relevance to our
diverse progressive community. This includes event times, meeting times,
articles, petitions, or generally useful or entertaining information such
as quotations and links.
-
CSSN stands in solidarity with oppressed peoples everywhere.
The Palestinians are one such group. Therefore, the CSSN listserve
cannot be used to promote events that do not acknowledge the rights of
this group and only support the Israeli side. (Note: this only
pertains to list postings, not to the personal beliefs of people
within CSSN). Any violations to this policy will be discussed in an
emergency meeting.
-
All members of CSSN must resolve inter-group conflicts in a
polite manner. No members of CSSN may be publicly slandered in the
media. Discussion of groups' policies are welcome as is heated
debate, but personal attacks will not be tolerated. This goes against
the spirit of solidarity.
-
For questions about the list, e-mail the list administrator at
owner-cssn@columbia.edu.
-
Finally, e-mail all suggestions for the CSSN webpage(www.columbia.edu/cu/cssn) to
Mike Castleman, mlc67@columbia.edu, and not to the
list.
thanks!!!
