Police Commissioner Howard Safir Speaking at Law School
RALLY: TODAY, Friday, 6:30pm, meet on Philosophy Lawn
(in front of Philosophy Hall)

Today, Friday, New York Police Commissioner Howard Safir is speaking at a
law school event. Rudy Giuliani's right-hand man and rabid supporter of
NYPD killer cops, Safir has shown nothing but disrespect to the Diallo
family over the past year. He described the recent verdict as a
'vindication'.

Safir is responsible for establishing the infamous Street Crimes Unit,
responsible for illegally stopping and frisking tens of thousands of black
women and men. Under the guise of 'making our streets safe', he has
instituted policies which make our streets radically unsafe for people of
color, homeless people, and queer people.

Postermaking Party: 5:00pm
East Campus 602B (townhouse: don't go up the elevator)
Ask for Ben, 3-6744
Bring postermaking supplies if you have them.

About the Columbia Student Solidarity Network

CSSN started in the '80s as Columbia Students in Solidarity with Nicaragua. It has traditionally focused on Central and South American politics. Since then, we have changed Nicaragua to Network and have expanded our focus to the issues that progressive groups on campus are addressing. CSSN is an umbrella group which serves to unite campus organizers by providing a forum for information and viewpoints of the members of respective groups.  If your group is interested in becoming a part of the network, please contact Ben Dubin-Thaler.

Future Plans

This page will include, in the future:  More detailed descriptions of our work, and links to other progressive political sites. Bear in mind that none of these changes would be possible without the highly applauded Enhancement and Enlargement program here at Columbia. And let's not forget that this same program has brought us coffee franchises in the library and an ID card which doubles as a bank card. Hooray!
