WHY DO WE NEED THE PARTY FOR CHOICE INITIATIVE?

WE ALL HAVE "FREEDOM OF CHOICE", BUT SOME OF US HAVE MORE CHOICES THAN OTHERS
Each year, at least 60,000 women and girls in the U.S. who want and needabortions are forced to carry their pregnancies to term because they cannot afford to pay for safe and legal abortions.

CHOICE COSTS
Average annual costs for woman-controlled contraception (i.e. not male condoms), which is not covered by all insurance plans, are
$450 for implant contraceptives (e.g. Norplant)
$360 for oral contraceptives ("the pill")
$240 for IUD
$180 for injectable contraceptives

FEDERAL HEALTH CARE FUNDS DON'T PAY FOR ABORTIONS
Research shows that poor women are twice as likely as affluent ones to have unwanted children.
Title X is the only federal program that provides money specifically for family planning, but PROHIBITS funding for abortion procedures.
The 1978 Hyde Amendment PROHIBITS the use of Medicaid funds for abortion procedures.
