Center Publications

Dissemination of its work through publicaition of research is a central goal of the Center for the Study of Social Work Practice. In an article in the April, 1992, issue of the journal Research on Social Work Practice, Dr. Shirley Jenkins, Founding Director of the Center, and Dr. Mark Mattaini, CUSSW, published a descriptive article about the Center, addressed its structure, goals and activities. This paper also summarized completed and ongoing studies, dissemination activities, and research training sponsored by the Center.

The proceedings of the Center's 1991 conference, Research and Practice: Bridging the Gap, have been published as a special issue of the journal Research on Social Work Practice (July 1992) . A listing of the articles in this special issue appears to the right. A hardcover edition of this issue has also been prepared, and is being distributed to all conference attendees. The special issue includes introductory remarks by Dr. Shirley Jenkins, major papers presented at the conference, and the summaries of the conference workshops. Three research reports by Center affiliates, which serve as examples of collaboration social work research and practice, round our the issue. Included are the first published results from the Patient Profile Study(Mattaini, Grellong, & Abramovitz) - a major thrust of the Center over the past two years -- and initial results of the Childhood Bereavement Study(Schilling, Koh, Abramovitz, & Gilbert), previously summarized in this newsletter.
