Emergency Medicine in the Iraqi Combat Zone

Wednesday, October 11th, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Lerner room C555
Military emergency medical care providers are asked to treat anyone and everyone equally - soldiers, civilians, detainees, and insurgents. Combat and military medicine in Iraq therefore provides a unique window into one facet of the ground level execution of the current conflict. Dr. David H. Newman (Major in the U.S. Army Reserves and emergency physician at St. Luke's/Rosevelt Hospital Center) will share and discuss experiences from his recent tour of duty with the 344th combat support hospital in Baghdad, including the realities of combat medicine, wartime injuries and illness, and life and work in the combat zone. This event is co-sponsored by the Pre-Professional Office.
