Columbia University Intramurals Mission The Columbia University Intramural Sports Program is designed to compliment the academic goals of the university by encouraging the physical, social and emotional growth of individuals. Columbia Intramurals strive to provide a healthy outlet from everyday stress through competitive activities conducted in a safe environment.
Eligibility Who is Eligible to play intramural sports? Intramural Sports eligibility comes with eligibility to use the Dodge Physical Fitness Center. Access is available to all full and part-time Morningside Campus Columbia University, Barnard College and Teachers College students with valid student identification, through the payment of a $103/semester facilities fee. Health Sciences and ALP students must pay a $50/semester access fee to use the facility for recreation. In order to gain access to the Dodge Fitness Center, all faculty, administration, and staff with a valid C.U.I.D. must purchase a base membership for $88 per semester which includes daily towel-locker service. PHOTO I.D.s -- Fitness Center photo I.D.s are provided for all members who do not have C.U.I.D.s. This includes alumni, family members and affiliated guests from St. Luke's, Bank Street, U.T.S., J.T.S., or Manhattan School of Music. There is a $20 materials fee for lost photo I.D.s.
Involvement Individuals as well as teams are welcome to participate in Intramurals. Teams are usually formed from residence halls, Greek houses, student organizations, or by groups of friends looking to have a good time. Simply decide which sport you want to play and grab the people closest to you. Each team must elect a "Team Captain"; this team representative is in charge of informing his players of game times, rules and regulations, as well as attending the mandatory captains meeting held at the beginning of the season. Team registration is due before the deadline set for for each individual sport. Late entries will not be accepted. Make sure to sign up your team early because once space is full entries will close.
Free Agents Players who do not have a team can still be involved. Free Agents will either be placed on an existing team or a "Free Agent" team will be created. All you need to do is fill out a Free Agent form, and best of all. It's free.
