Short Film Grants Competition


We are proud to announce the very first annual CUFP Short Film Grants Competition.

Eligibility: Columbia undergraduate students (CC, SEAS, GS and Barnard)

Students will submit a film proposal to a panel of judges, composed of Columbia's film faculty and students from Columbia's graduate film division. From these submissions, three winners will be chosen, with monetary grants being awarded as follows:

First place grant: $500
Second place grant: $300
Third place grant: $200

The winners of the contest will use his or her awarded money towards production costs of his or her film project. Expenses will be monitored by the CUFP Executive Board. Recipients are allowed to use additional funds towards their project. The three films will be showcased in the Spring CUFP Film Festival.

The deadline for submission is October 15, 2007. Applications should be dropped off in the CUFP mailbox, located on the fifth floor of Lerner Hall.

Stipulations of Winning:

1. Filmmaker must use a production and producing crew composed of Columbia undergraduate students.

2. Filmmaker must have his or her screenplay workshopped at a CUFP roundtable reading. This must occur before the end of the Fall 2007 Semester.

3. The filmmaker's project must be complete by March 15th, in order for it to be ready for the Spring CUFP Film Festival.

Submission Guidelines:

Proposal submissions must be submitted by October 1, 2007. The judging panel will read each proposal as an anonymous submission in order to maintain a level of objectivity.
