NOMADS
NOMADS (New and Original Material Authored and Directed by Students) is a group dedicated to presenting original student-written plays, workshop readings of plays/musicals, and experimental theater. Since 2003, NOMADS has given a home to the creation of unique, experimental and provocative original work by artists from across the Columbia University Community. Combining full-scale theatrical projects with multi-media installations, dance, music, playwriting workshops and 'live artwork', we provide a safe, professional and exciting space where any member of our community can develop their creative ideas -- however wild, wacky, or wondrous -- from page to stage (or any other venue we can find!).
Many of our productions have been presented off-campus at Theater Row 42nd Street, Cherry Lane Theater and the NYC Fringe. We are unique to this campus in that we provide the most dedicated student-artists a professional and progressive space for the original development of expressive, imaginative and challenging new theater. If you are looking to develop your craft, you are looking to join NOMADS.
Every semester, we put on one main-stage production in the GMT, and a festival of short plays, called WordPlay.
