Autumn 2004 Season Begins

We're back for another season of racquetball. Stop by Fridays 4-7 for our open house racquetball, and feel free to bring a friend. Don't know how to play? We'll show you how.

Last week, our first week of the year, we overflowed from the courts (we now are up to using courts 5-13). We will entertain the idea of opening more hours per week -- if there are those who can't make fridays and would prefer another time (we are typically limited to monday through thursday evenings) then let us know. We are also considering hosting a ladder-style tournament. If interested in this sort of thing, please contact us as well.

Weekly Monday Meetings Added

We've added monday meetings to the mix. The courts are reserved from 9-11PM weekly (I believe it is courts 6-12, though someone can check the sheet at the towel check). That brings us to a solid 5hrs/week, and it has been working out fairly well thus far. I've been seeing a lot of new faces as well as some old ones. Hope to see you all there.

Weekly Friday Meetings

Those of you who came out to play racquetball last Friday know that we had some issues getting enough courts. Hopefully this has been resolved now -- Chester has spoken to the head of Intramural Sports, Dr. Bill Ebner, and has reserved courts 7-12 from 4-7pm every Friday. Additionally, we have been offerred another time slot if we want/need one. Now that this has been established, we will make the Friday 4-7 "meetings" a regular weekly affair.

In other news, there has been some interest in a racquetball tournament -- we would like to set this up in the very near future, so if you have any suggestions, please post them on the message board. The message board hasn't been used nearly as much as I would have liked to see; your input is very helpful, so please don't hesitate to provide it.

First Organized Matches!

Friday, October 3, from 3pm - 6pm we will have 6 courts reserved in Dodge Fitness Center (the courts are located on the 3rd floor of the gym). We have also reserved the P.E. racquetball racquets, so even if you don't have your own equipment you can come out and play. Chester and I will will be there to teach beginners how to play. We hope to set up some king-of-the-hill style matches and anything else people want to play.

Welcome. This site is still very much under construction. It will be serving as the official CURB website until Columbia offers us web space. So far it consists simply of a message board. Soon I will be adding a scheduler for people to arrange games with other people in the club. If you are in the club or wish to join, please register with this site so that we have your information on file. There is no real obligation here -- you get as much out of this as you'd like. You can unregister at any time by simply sending me an email.
