Please join us on October 17, 2012 at 7:00pm, which is the FIRST segment in a new series entitled Beyond Fukushima 2011: An Open-Dialogue Series on a Safe and Sustainable Future.
Please join us Wednesday evening for an exciting screening of the documentary film, Fukushima 2011: Chronicles From the Heartland, which recounts the once ordinary lives of residents living near the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Director Hidetaka Inazuka (in attendance) spent the first 10 months after Japan?s triple catastrophe, interviewing local teachers, farmers, civil servants and more to capture the resilience and quiet courage of a broken community working hard to rebuild itself.
Narrated by Japan?s legendary actor, Tatsuya Nakadai and with a moving film score by Osamu Kitajima, Chronicles From the Heartland is an ode to Japanese endurance in the face of disaster.
Q&A with director Hidetaka Inazuka (and translator) after the film.
Doors: 7:00pm // Screen: 7:15pm
Place: Thompson Hall 136, Teachers College, 525 W 120th St., New York, NY 10027
