Kosher Plan Comparison

Columbia University Dining Services is proud to offer our kosher students two options for meal plan programs. The first is our own kosher meal plan where meals are served at John Jay Dining Hall (detailed on the left-hand side of the chart below). The second is offered through Barnard College with meals served at their main dining facility, Hewitt Hall (detailed on the right-hand side of the chart below).

When Can I Eat?	Monday-Sunday Brunch: 10:30am to 1:30pm Dinner: 5:00pm to 8:00pm Note: The kosher station is closed after brunch on Friday and all day Saturday.	Monday-Friday Breakfast: 8:00am to 10:00am Lunch: 11:30am to 2:00pm Dinner: 5:00pm to 7:45pm* (except Fridays)* Saturday and Shabbat Lunch: 12:30pm to 2:00pm Dinner/3rd Meal: Before the end of shabbat served at Hillel Sunday Brunch: 11:00am to 2:00pm Dinner: 4:30pm to 7:00pm Note: Shabbat meals include Friday dinner; time is determined by the start of Shabbat.
What Can I Eat?	For brunch; a selection of fish, pasta and vegetables. For dinner; meat, salad, vegetables, side dishes and desserts. View this week's menu .	For lunch; dairy. For dinner; meat with soup and salad bar, pizza station and desserts.
Does It Offer Shabbat and Holiday Meals?	No, but Columbia students can use Dining Dollars, Flex or cash and pay $12.76/meal to participate in these special meals at Barnard's Hewitt Hall.	Yes. Barnard Meal Plan provides students with all of their Shabbat and holiday meals. Columbia Kosher Meal Plan members may purchase these special meals for $12.75.
Can I Interchange My Meals?	Yes, John Jay Dining Hall accepts Barnard meals for brunch and dinner.	Yes, but Columbia Kosher Meal Plan members must pay an additional $4.00 to eat in the Barnard’s Hewitt Dining Hall. Payment can be made in cash or Dining Dollars. Columbia Meal Plan Points will not be accepted. Hewitt Hall accepts Columbia meals for lunch and dinner (not breakfast).
How Much Does It Cost?	First Years = $4,540 per year Others = $884 to $3614 per year depending on which meal plan you select. Note: Total cost above = price of a non-kosher meal plan + 10%	First Years = $4,574 to $4,776 Others = See the Kosher section of the Barnard College Dining Services website.
